Left-of-centre cultural icons in New Zealand for over a decade, The Topp Twins have also taken the rest of the world by storm with regular sell-out performances in the USA, Canada, Britain and Australia.

The Topp Twins combine careers as contemporary acoustic musicians with comedy-theatre work, so even in concert a Topp Twins show is much more than just music. With a gift for crafting song, spontaneity and stories they are consummate performers. This highly original and talented duo have also won acclaim for their television work and received many NZ Film & Television awards, including Entertainers of the Year and Best Original Music.

The Twins' material is drawn from their country roots as well as from a political awareness suffused with humour. Original songs fill most of the show and run the whole gamut from C&W pastiche to serious contemporary country ballads. A total entertainment experience is the result: near-impossible vocal harmonies are cross-hatched with spontaneous humour, visual comedy and the famously distinctive Topp Twin yodel.

Audience participation is another Topp Twins trademark. With a motto of "amuse but never abuse" participants are safely involved in spontaneous verbal and physical repartee. Dame Edna herself waved a gladioli in blessing when she saw the Twins perform, while Billy Connelly, at the 1995 Edinburgh Fringe, returned the next day with a huge bouquet of white lilies and a card proclaiming his adoration.

The Topps' twin-timing and special flair for one finishing whatever the other one starts, sets a dynamic pace on stage, while their natural exuberance is simply contagious. Testimony to The Topp Twins' spectacular talent is the diversity of their audience: from alternative to the mainstream, from the centre to the political left, across all ages and cultures, they are received with enthusiasm and rave reviews.

The Topp Twins are identical twin sisters, Jools Topp (guitar/vocals) and Lynda Topp (guitar/ vocals/mouth harp/percussion).
