The Improvisors
The Improvisors began during the first New Zealand International Festival of the Arts in 1990. Seven local actors formed a company to provide an alternative to the corporate entertainment and training on offer at that time.
Their aim is to excite, invigorate and entertain, leaving your guests enthusiastic after seeing themselves reflected in a gently humorous light. They tailor make entertainment to suit your requirements and taking the suggestions of the audience they create a performance that thrives on the energy generated when neither audience nor performers can tell what is going to happen next.
The Dinner Show – your company, your product, your people and your own comedy show!
Replace the standard after dinner speech with this unique and highly entertaining event that guarantees hilarity. The actors combine their professional Theatresports background with your inside knowledge – together you will create the structure for this interactive theatre. The result is a stage performance which thrives on the energy generated when neither audience nor performers can tell what is going to happen next. It is a show to which the audience relates, because it’s about their company, their product and their people.
Comedy Characters at the dinner – Street theatre comes to the dining room.
The comedy characters are the perfect party animals. They mix and mingle circulating from cocktail cluster to the dinner table. From the cunning to the outrageous they entertain small, intimate groups. Breaking down the barriers between the audience and performer – they facilitate your fun. For example the Maitre d’ may be an undiscovered opera singer, or there may be a film director present who is auditioning talent, or a designer may be trying to sell the most ludicrous designs of your product. This format is particularly useful when there is a group of people present who do not know each other.

It is drowsy time at your conference – mid way during the afternoon session …the OHP is blurring, cocktail hour is beckoning. You struggle through the fug to concentrate. Suddenly your mind focuses on some incongruous character. Is the air conditioning engineer for real, and who is that strange looking cleaner? ITS WAKE UP TIME! The comedy characters interruption provides a short, sharp shock – an
interlude that enables those working to return invigorated to the more serious matters at hand. These characters help to make the participants receptive to the work sessions and feel that your company had ensured the conference-goers are looked after, humoured, entertained and encouraged to respond.
