Warren Powell
Warren Powell graduated from university in 1992, with an accounting degree. He was offered great jobs with big companies – but Warren likes to do his own thing.
With two partners and a little bit of money he opened a concept surf store in Taupo. Today, it is still doing very well, under his brother's ownership. With a couple of years of successful store ownership under his belt he went to Brisbane and opened a couple more retail stores.
He returned to New Zealand and a new role at Fletcher Challenge, running their Gib Franchise, then Country Manager for Burger King NZ, then back to Fletcher’s as GM for Hire A Hubby.
Warren first came across Hell Pizza when he ordered in one day, only to wait two hours for delivery. Assured by his sister that it was worth the wait, he discovered the powerful Hell machine and the strong customer following it has grown. Everyone knew and loved it – no matter how long it took! On this basis, Warren decided to approach Stu and Callum and offer his services as a partner to help them franchise. A believer in delegation, Warren enjoys tackling the “big stuff”.
Hell Pizza is now an enormous franchise that has taken over the New Zealand pizza market, and incredibly they have done it all without a bank loan – business expansion is funded by business cash flow.
