Vince Sorrenti
Vince Sorrenti is one of Australia’s best known and successful comic entertainers. A household name for over a decade, Vince was one of a small group of stand-up comedians that launched Sydney’s Comedy Store in the early 1980’s heralding a new era in Australian comedy. The fresh faced architecture student who had cut his teeth in university revues was a raging success on the comedy circuit playing to packed houses all over Australia.
Since those fledgling days Vince has spread his wings world wide through a variety of media. He has released albums, hosted TV programmes in Australia and the United States, written and appeared in feature films and documentaries, written a long list of feature articles for Australia’s most prestigious publications, appeared in dramatic plays and performed to countless thousands of people and business groups from New York to Tokyo, and Bali to Venice.
Sorrenti’s ability to think, write and communicate sets him apart from other entertainers. He has been a sought after spokesman for federal Government youth programmes, national advertisers, radio and television variety and talk programmes, and several books on recent Australian culture. Vince Sorrenti is one of Australia’s longest serving Australia Day Ambassadors.
The bottom line of course is that Vince is funny. He has entertained everyone from New Guinean Highlanders to Swiss Bankers, Prime Ministers to Rugby Players. His list of credits is as remarkably long as it is varied. He has performed with people such as Robin Williams, Phyliss Diller, Ben Elton, Roseanne Barr, and many others. He has received rave reviews from sporting legends like Greg Norman to Arts festivals like the Edinburgh Fringe.
Vince’s broad spectrum and national appeal give him outstanding crossover ability and make him one of the busiest performers in Australia. Averaging in excess of 250 performances a year, Sorrenti’s demand as a corporate entertainer, after dinner speaker, event host, video and TV presenter, talk show guest, club performer, writer and so on, is testimony to his popularity and quality.
