Tim Shadbolt
Tim Shadbolt, Mayor of Invercargill, has been a colourful, often controversial figure in New Zealand's political scene for the past 20 years and is one of New Zealand’s best known personalities.
Before entering into politics, Shadbolt was a concrete contractor and managed his family orchard, growing up in West Auckland.
In 1983 Shadbolt was elected as Mayor of Waitemata City (a position he held until 1989). He was a member of the Auckland Regional Authority from 1983-1988 and a Waitakere City Councillor from 1992-1993.
In 1993 Shadbolt became the Mayor of Invercargill, a position he still holds.
Shadbolt is known for being a successful communicator – from his University days through to his television and radio presenting and regular appearances in celebrity quiz shows, telethons, charity functions and debates. He has also been involved with advertising and promotions across a range of New Zealand companies, including the promotion of his home town of Invercargill.
Shadbolt is the author of several books and published works including ‘Bullshit and Jellybeans’ and is a columnist for the Southland Times.
Shadbolt is a very experienced speaker and he shares his experiences with his audience in an enjoyable and humorous presentation.
