Phillip Leishman

Phillip Leishman has been a broadcaster since 1970 and is well known throughout New Zealand for his involvement in the television industry.

He has worked on both radio and television hosting sport, quiz shows like the very popular ‘Wheel of Fortune’, and a number of entertainment specials including the Halberg Awards and the New Zealand Tourism Awards.

He has hosted coverage of four Olympic and five Commonwealth Games for Television New Zealand. Renowned for his versatility, Phillip also commentates for tennis, has presented both rugby and rugby league tests, done many yachting telecasts and Sky TV’s popular 'The Golf Show'. In 2006 he was appointed director of the NZ Racing Hall of Fame.

Phillip has been involved with the children’s charity, Variety Club, since its inception in New Zealand in 1989 and was Chief Barker for three years. Most recently Phil was awarded The New Zealand Order of Merit Officer in the 2011 New Year Honours for services to media and the community.

As an entertaining speaker, Phillip describes his many experiences from over 30 years in the industry in a light hearted, humorous manner.

He is a very professional MC and also hosts a variety of quiz shows and interactive evenings, including the very popular corporate entertainment package ‘Appointment at Ascot’.
