Lois Appleby

Lois Appleby is currently a Board Director for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. She is one of six members on the board and the only female to reach this position in the rugby world.

A Canadian turned Australian, Lois has an impressive professional background. She retired in 2006 as CEO at Tourism Victoria, after five years in the position.

Prior to that Lois was CEO of the Sydney 2000 Paralympics Games – hailed as the most successful Games ever. Lois was also CEO for the 1994 World Masters Games in Brisbane, attracting 23,500 competitors, and Project Manager for the World Cup Athletics. Prior to this she was General Manager of Regional Services and Events in the Tasmanian Department of Sport and Recreation and sat on the organising committee for the 1990 World Rowing Championships.

In February 2003 she was appointed the Honorary Consul for Canada in Melbourne.

Apart from her current involvement with the Rugby World Cup 2011 she also sits on the Boards of Basketball Australia and Victorian Major Events Company. She is an Adjunct Professor with Victorian University.

Lois is an expert on change and adaptability and also talks about opportunity, trust and interdependence.
