John Edwards

John is internationally recognised for his research and consultancy work on how people think and the direct teaching of thinking, particularly in the area of lateral thinking. He has worked closely with Edward de Bono and his most recent work focuses on achieving excellence in professional performance and thinking.

John began his working life as a research metallurgist. He has since worked as a full-time author; a university professor and researcher in thinking and science education; and a consultant to education, business and industry. For three years he worked in Malaysia as a researcher and learning specialist at an international centre for science and mathematics education.

He has consulted in a wide range of educational and business settings in Australia, the USA, UK, Colombia, France, Malta, New Zealand, Hungary, Israel, South Africa, South East Asia and the Pacific. This includes work with international agencies such as the OECD in Paris, the Macarthur Foundation in the US and UNESCO in Asia and the Pacific.

John is the author/co-author of five books and over 50 chapters and research articles. His latest book, 'People Rules for Rocket Scientists', provides insights into the key models, techniques and processes for professional growth and learning.

He has been a keynote speaker at leading national and international conferences, including The International Conference on Creative Thinking, The Australian Quality Council Conference and the International Conference on Thinking. His presentations have regularly received top ratings, and he is in strong demand as a presenter.
