Jenene Freer is Managing Director, publisher and founder of nzgirl Limited.

The trademarked nzgirl brand was established in 1999 by Jenene, then 21 years old. It has grown to 65,000 members (with up to 2000 new members per month) and 215,000+ unique visitors each month – placing it as one of the most popular websites in New Zealand.

nzgirl Ltd, renowned for its award winning online magazine www.nzgirl.co.nz, has proven today that traditional business models can learn from the wonders of the internet.

The opening of their second physical retail store in Wellington, following the first store in Nuffield Street, Auckland, marks the next step for nzgirl in taking the successful online publication and establishing it as a lifestyle brand.

Prior to nzgirl, Jenene worked as a research data analyst; Nike projects and apparel co-ordinator and WebMasters project executive. It is the last job that triggered her interest in the internet and allowed her to discover the gap in the market for a young female online publication.

Now in its eighth year, nzgirl has become the leading female website in New Zealand. It has shifted from a teen focus to the mid 20’s market – mostly as a result of loyal visitors growing up with the site.

To date, nzgirl has picked up the E-business of the Year Award in 2001, Best Youth Site in 2000, the Axis Advertising Awards Gold, Grande Axis and Best in Show, three DMA Gold Awards, a Cannes Lion from France and Gold/Best in Show at the Asia Pacific Advertising Festival. In total, nzgirl has picked up over 10 international and 25 local awards for its marketing efforts. In 2006 Jenene was one of three finalists for New Zealand’s marketer of the year award.

Jenene is a down to earth person that speaks openly and honestly about her remarkable journey to wealth and fame.

Jenene’s topics can include: young women in business, entrepreneurship, branding, marketing, retail and internet business.
