Hamish Conway

After 18 months as an auditor checking the numbers, Hamish decided it was time to be the one creating the numbers. At 24 years of age Hamish took the leap and started his own business in the Tourism Industry.

The transition from Accountant to Entrepreneur was complete when he won the 2002 Ernst & Young, Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, along with two Deloitte Fast 50 awards in 2001 and 2002.

Hamish has now successfully sold his Tourism and Events business and continues to run a Training and Development Company. Hamish’s success has come about through living the Entrepreneurial Spirit.

Sharing entertaining stories of innovation, risk taking, leadership and lessons learnt about start up ventures, people will understand the meaning of ‘doing whatever it takes to make it happen’.

Through his fresh, enthusiastic and personable style, Hamish shares the skills and mindset of Entrepreneurial Behaviour to help organisations and individuals prepare for, and thrive in the future.

Hamish has a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing), a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and a Diploma for Graduates (Accounting) – all from the University of Otago. He was the first person in 70 years to graduate with 3 qualifications on the same day.

He played Representative Cricket for Otago University and Canterbury U20, and enjoys Golf and Skiing.

Hamish has sat on the Methven/Mt Hutt region Marketing Board and the Ashburton Branding Committee.
