Burns Fallow
Burns Fallow is head of Team New Zealand’s sail department and was responsible for the overall sail programme and sail design (including the design of all upwind sails) of New Zealand’s triumphant America’s Cup 2000 defence in Auckland. Burns was also sail designer for Team New Zealand’s successful 1995 America’s Cup campaign and has designed sails for a range of performance yachts entered in the Whitbread Round the World Race and grand-prix IMS regattas.
Since 1988 he has worked as a sail designer in a leading Auckland sail firm, designing sails for winners in the One Ton Cup in 1988 and 1994, the Two Ton Cup in 1992, the Kenwood Cup in 1990, 1992 and 1994 and the Mumm 36 Class in 1995 and 1996.
Burns presents an interesting and personal account of the past and most recent America’s Cup races, including his view on the 2003 challenge and those team members who departed Team New Zealand to join other syndicates. He can tailor his address to include themes of teamwork, commitment, goal setting and planning.
