Billy Graham is New Zealand's best-loved motivator and fitness fanatic. He is bold, bouncy and brimming over with energy and enthusiasm.
He has spent a lifetime involved in sport and physical fitness. A former New Zealand and Australasian light welterweight boxing champion he has achieved success through goal setting and determination.
Billy delights in telling stories of his own life to show that anyone can make it. Having left school unable to read or write Billy took up butchering and later teaching physical education. He eventually started his own business and some of his talents were recognised when he appeared on the Television New Zealand programme "Made in New Zealand", which featured successful New Zealand companies.
Billy has designed a unique fitness concept that he manufactures and sells internationally. Major buyers have included the US Airforce and the British Army – no small achievement for a dyslexic who left school at 14!
Now in constant demand as a speaker at conferences and business functions, Billy has delivered keynote presentations in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the UK. In June 1997 he was the main platform speaker at the Million-Dollar Round Table Convention in Atlanta, a New Zealand first, and received a standing ovation from an audience of 5000!
This success has resulted in Billy again being featured on television, this time on 60 Minutes, which screened in August 1997. In early 1998 Billy had his motivational memoir, ‘Your Ship Came in the Day the Doctor Smacked Your Bum’ published.
He stresses the importance of combining a healthy body with a healthy attitude and of making the very best of every opportunity. Billy puts this into practice every day of his life. Most importantly, he loves people and delights in sharing his zest for living with others, whether they are business executives or school children. His warm and enthusiastic presentation inspires his audience to challenge their outlook and increase their potential. He is indeed a personal motivator.
Billy was announced the New Zealander of the Year, Local Hero in February 2011 out of 270 people nominated. A great achievement! Billy is presently working on publishing his second book; based on his experiences working with at-risk youth and how to help young people achieve, which is being written as told to Phil Gifford. Billy is also filming a father and son step by step "how to box" DVD.
