Annah Stretton
Annah Stretton thrives on making tough decisions and firmly believes that the busier you are the more you get done.
This positive attitude has helped her create a very successful clothing brand employing up to 120 women, with an annual turnover of $8 million. She started designing clothes to satisfy an artistic urge that she was not finding in accountancy.She was one of five finalists in the 2005 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and was recently elected chairperson of Fashion Industry New Zealand by her peers — “a neat accolade”.
Her leadership style is easily categorised as decisive and direct, yet she embraces her team with great pride and works hard to inspire the women around her to be confident, challenged and independent.
Annah was recently awarded an Honorary Master of Arts by Wintec (Waikato Institute of Technology) for her contributions to Fashion.
Current involvements include not only her clothing business but also trustee of the ‘Waikato Breast Cancer Trust’ and the ‘True Colours Charitable Trust’, both Waikato based charities; Mentoring fledgling businesses, working actively as a Fashion Industry NZ Board chairperson and her latest venture, magazine publishing.
She is the owner and editor of the "Her Business" magazine, a monthly publication. Annah aims to make this magazine the most intelligent read for the women of Australasia. She also owns and edits "pink"__ __magazine, a publication supporting breast cancer initiatives.
Her most recent venture, ‘Angel Investing’ is gaining the most traction at the moment. Working alongside promising entrepreneurs, Annah’s aim is to propel them forward with a combination of financial support and business expertise.
Her keynote addresses are open and honest, motivating and inspirational. She appeals to people from all walks of life, be that big corporate clients and small charities.
