Lisa Nimmo and Shelley Hirini’s story is one of hard work, talent and the courage to follow a dream.

In 2002 they were introduced by a life coach who believed their shared passion for music, would make for an enjoyable mutual friendship. In 2003 they formed Pearl, ditched their corporate career paths and began working together to make their childhood music dreams a reality.

Now, five years later, they have released a critically acclaimed debut album; have performed with international music legends Elton John and Eric Clapton and Pearl’s music can now be heard all over the world.

Both in their thirties, working in an industry primarily focused on youth and sex, Lisa and Shelley have used every bit of their previous business experience to build a successful international brand in a rapidly changing global market.

An award winning speaker, Lisa has a business background in marketing, advertising, project and business management. Fluent in Japanese language, and with a degree in Political Science, Shelley's professional background is in event planning within the dynamic tourism, travel and trade industries.

Both women are experienced entertainers and performers. Pearl's previous live work also includes supports for Australian rock legend Jimmy Barnes, ex-pat Kiwis Fur Patrol, Kiwi icons The Feelers and Th' Dudes and McLeod's Daughters star Lisa Chappell.

Their widely popular music (likened to a cross between The Corrs and The Dixie Chicks) has received extensive airplay on radio stations within NZ and selected countries around the world.

Pearl has featured regularly in nationwide press and have performed extensively on NZ radio and television including TV3's Nightline and Sunrise, and TV One's Headliners, Breakfast and Good Morning shows.
