In memory of Jack Ralston
03 September 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce that one of our wonderful speakers Jack Ralston passed away on the 26th of August.
Jack was a true inspiration and a leader – he described himself as “part trainer, part motivator, agitator and initiator... and a Futurist” one who prepares for the future before you have to.
He directed national and international events in a wide variety of sports, including track and field, rugby, cycling, soccer, golf, basketball and tennis. He led negotiations with key national and local government officials, sponsors and sports federations.
He has trained world champions to Olympic, Commonwealth Games and World Championship level and in 1994/95 was named as the Triathlon NZ coach of the year.
Jack was Asia Pacific Director for NIKE International, creating a major sports business message that saw billion dollar growth. He led the creation of Nike Sports Entertainment, working with sporting greats like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Carl Lewis in events all over the world.
For two years Jack worked with the NZ Rugby Union as Director of Commercial and Marketing, securing the game’s future through millions of dollars in sponsorship. Most recently he worked as the NZRU's Director of People, ensuring players have a well-balanced lifestyle and life skills during and after their playing career.
