A sophisticated yet versatile package, Mojave is a contemporary jazz quartet based in Auckland. Formed in 2000, Mojave features the unique sound of jazz flute within the format of a jazz quartet.

Our music is expertly performed by an ensemble of high calibre, experienced professional musicians, who have the ability to read and adapt to the musical ambience of any event or function. Available as a trio or quartet, the musicians include Trudy Lile – flute/vocals, Kevin Field – piano, David Hodkinson – bass and Jason Orme – drums.

The music explores jazz, Latin, blues, reggae, lounge and other energetic grooves exciting new original material, as well as favourite jazz standards as featured on our new album ‘Well dressed Standards’ released in 2009.

Mojave performs regularly in Auckland at jazz venues and festival performances all around New Zealand are a regular feature. Highlights include a sell out concert at The National Jazz Festival in Tauranga 2007, as well as recent popular performances at Nelson jazz Festival and Mission Bay Jazz and Blues Festival in 2009.

Trudy has completed her Masters of Music (M Mus.) in Jazz performance and teaches at The New Zealand School of Music, Albany Campus.

She has performed as soloist with the Jazz Divas, the Rodger Fox Big Band, New Zealand Youth Jazz Orchestra and in the Massey University Masters and their Music series. In addition she has recorded in many musical genres; from The Jazz Divas, The Rodger Fox Big Band, Whirimako Black, Andrew Atwill, Ishtar, Black Sand Diva, Dave Gibson, to KIng Kapisi.
