Kevin Haines
Kevin Haines, a veteran of the music industry in New Zealand, has been inspiring and creating music with some of the top names in jazz.
Beginning his career in the late fifties at the age of 15, Kevin played at the infamous Montmarte club with the Mike Walker Trio. Since then, Kevin has toured with many visiting musicians, including Cal Collins, Nat Adderley and Mendell Lowe. With his sons Nathan and Joel, Kevin formed the group, The Second Generation. Nathan went on to record the country's biggest ever selling jazz album Shift Left and is now based in London.
Kevin is one of New Zealand’s most respected jazz bassists. He has been a prominent figure in the New Zealand jazz scene for many years and is still very much in demand as one of the country's best acoustic bass players.
