For Bettina Arndt, it was sex that made her famous – or at the least very well known in Australia! As one of this country’s first sex therapists and editor of Forum magazine, she spent ten years talking about sex on television and radio back in the 1970s. As a trained clinical psychologist, Bettina taught medical students, doctors and other professionals and talked endlessly about this fascinating subject to audiences all over Australia and overseas.

Bettina then gave up sex -professionally speaking – and moved onto writing for newspapers and magazines about broader social issues and particularly the changing relationships between men and women. In her role as a social commentator, she was invited onto government advisory committees covering issues from family law to childcare and ageing.

But after nearly twenty years, Bettina has now returned to her first love, publishing a new book on how couples negotiate their sex supply – The Sex Diaries – which has become an international best-seller and attracted enormous media attention – She did 27 television and radio interviews in the week the book came out. It attracted major publicity in New Zealand as well, including a number of television and radio programs. This has led to a flood of new speaking engagements. Her new talks are all about sex, based around some hilarious stories which emerged during her fascinating research.

Recently Bettina has been involved in sell out events. Her talks have proved very useful for attracting audiences, for keeping audiences in place and entertained at the end of a long conference day and for providing a lively finale – something very different to end a conference on a high note.

Her new book contains very exciting material about how older couples deal with sexual issues, particularly focusing on impact of the Viagra revolution. This is proving very attractive to all kinds of audiences.

Bettina is an entertaining and witty speaker and would be a nice point of difference for your next function.
