Frankie Stevens
Frankie Stevens performed in the club circuit in New Zealand and Australia and then went on to England where he performed at Talk of the Town, The Albert Hall and the Palladium. He performed his own cabaret show touring throughout Europe.
Frankie has represented New Zealand and England in several European Song Contests.
He won a Silver Prize at the second Tokyo Music Festival with a song called "Sandy Sandy", a bronze and a gold at Caracas at the Golden Orpheus Song Festival in Bulgaria. He was also the first singer outside the Eastern block to gain this honour.
Frankie appeared for 32 weeks at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas and went from there to The Lounge at the MGM Grand Hotel. He has appeared and toured with various international stars such as Olivia Newton-John, Shirley Bassey, Milton Berle, Sammy Davis Junior, Jack Jones and Val Doonican. He had his own show at the Nassau Beach Hotel in the Bahamas and in San Juan, Puerto Rico for several months.
He appeared at the Monarch Room in the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Hawaii for a nine month contract. During this time he gained acting experience in both television and a James Bond movie.
In live theatre he appeared in Harry M Miller’s hit musical "Jesus Christ Superstar" in New Zealand and Australia.
Frankie has also owned and operated his own entertainment venue in Wellington performing nightly shows.
Frankie was awarded Tracey Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the New Year Honours list of 2004/2005, for services to entertainment. Most recently he has been in the media as a NZ Idol judge.
