WICKED WAHINE TINA CROSS & TAISHA TARI
Wicked Wahine is the union of two of New Zealand’s finest singers and entertainers. From up close and intimate to full noise, these Diva’s sing it sweet and sing it strong. Wicked Wahine belongs to the whanau tradition of playing guitar, ukulele and percussion whilst yodeling, dancing and adding beautiful harmonies along the way. With a musical history of more than 50 years between them, these multitalented, glamorous and very experienced women, do what they do best – sing from the heart and soul.
THE DIVA
Tina Cross is a pop princess, song contest winner and recording artist turned musical theatre star. Tina has entertained worldwide and appeared with Sammy Davis Jnr, Tom Jones and the Village People, amongst others. Musical theatre lead roles include Chicago, Once Were Warriors, Boogie Nights, Rocky Horror, Cats and Australia’s Sisterella. Tina received the ONZM in 2007 and had us all on the edge of our seats watching her on Dancing With The Stars in 2008. Tina is currently working on her first contemporary Opera role, the ‘Casanova Project’.
THE SONGSTRESS
Taisha Tari is New Zealand’s top session singer with 20 years of studio experience and numerous radio and TV jingles to her name. She has recorded with everyone from Dame Kiri Te Kanawa to Midge Marsden and OMC who she toured with internationally, on the back of his US and UK No 1 hit single, ‘How Bizzare’. Taisha has recently recorded the bi-lingual Maori & English Album titled “Aonua” winning “Best Maori” song and “Best Maori Female Artist” at the 2008 NZ Waiata Maori Music Awards. She is currently recording another original album in Te Reo Maori.
