Guy Cater has been performing professionally for over 20 years. He started his show business career as a children’s magic clown and then moved into MC and comedy work. He gained a Diploma of Clinical Hypnotherapy in 1982 but decided that that lifestyle was not for him and began using his hypnotic skills within his comedy act and then into a full show. He has won many entertainment industry awards throughout his career and in 1997 was awarded life membership of the Variety Artists Club and inducted into their Hall of Fame.

As an MC, Guy is able to take your evening and ensure it runs smoothly. He has had vast experience in acting as an MC for entertainment variety shows, beauty pageants, fashion parades and corporate functions.

Stand-up comedy is one of Guy’s favourite acts. He has the ability to entertain at all level of events, from corporate cocktail functions to the local rugby club. As a comedian Guy knows the boundaries and never goes beyond them. He uses jokes and gags, some adult comedy magic and hilarious ‘social comment’ in his act.

Guy is a fully trained and qualified hypnotist and presents probably the funniest show you will ever see! He invites audience volunteers up onto the stage and induces a light state of hypnosis. He ensures his subjects, although causing heaps of mirth, never belittle or demean themselves. At the end of the show, all his subjects awake, remembering all that has happened and feeling refreshed and wonderful. During the show Guy will have them riding a horse in the Melbourne Cup, meeting an alien, playing musical instruments, laughing at a funny movie and crying at a sad one, becoming Elvis, Madonna or Michael Jackson, thinking they have won Lotto, watching a fast game of tennis, thinking their shoe is a delightful little puppy and some will think they are Mr or Miss World and all will just love looking through Guy’s Z-Ray glasses.

Guy performs both in New Zealand and overseas. He is the only New Zealand hypnotist to ever headline in Las Vegas and regularly performs throughout the USA and Asia.
