Douglas Bennett
Douglas Bennett is a Study Director for the USA National Research Council (NRC) / National Academy of Sciences and is an adjunct fellow at the Communications Center of The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC.
He has directed numerous studies for the NRC. The recommendations of a study Douglas directed are being used by NASA to plan for Mars robotic exploration over the next 15 years. As a result of this work, he has served as a Scientific Advisor to the BBC London on a Mars documentary-drama.
Working on the NRC’s Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board, Douglas’s specialty is communicating science and technology issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
At Potomac, Douglas is under contract to write fiction for the Department of Defense. He is also collaborating with senior retired military and other experts to write book-length fiction and non-fiction that examines the present state of national security.
Finally, Douglas is authoring a series of public policy white papers on the use of ethics and social issues in technology development.
