Dick Hubbard is famous for the success of Hubbard Foods Ltd which manufactures breakfast cereals both under the Hubbard brand and for supermarkets. And more recently as former Mayor of Auckland City.

Set up by Dick and his wife Diana Hubbard, in 1988 as Winner Foods, this independent New Zealand company changed its name to Hubbard Foods in 1990 after the launch of the Hubbards brand.

Dick is widely respected as a role model amongst business leaders and for his work as Chairman of Business Grow and a board member of Business in the Community, organisations which assist small businesses. Committed to corporate social responsibility, he founded and is Chair of New Zealand Businesses for Social Responsibility.

Dick is a food technologist by training with a degree in Food Technology from Massey University and has worked in the food industry all his life.

He has been associated with various industry organisations and was President of the NZ Food Institute of Science and Technology and for 12 years was Chairman of the NZ Food Standards Committee, which advised the Minister of Health on all food legislation in New Zealand.

Dick was elected Mayor of Auckland in 2004 and completed this role late 2007.
