Des and Les – hosts of the popular Newstalk ZB "Sunday Roast" – are an irrepressible duo whose delightful brand of comedy has been enjoyed by both corporate and community organisations, here and in Australia.
Perhaps the most interesting aspect of their performances is that they manage to take ordinary, everyday situations, and create entertaining scenarios from them. If you have lost a bag, they'll find it – and if you haven't, they will still find it!
They perform a series of comedy sketches which can be adapted to include a variety of situations, depending on the client's brief and the audience.
Des & Les have done extensive warm-up work for Television New Zealand shows such as New Zealand's Funniest Home Videos and have appeared on Candid Camera.
Bruce Hopkins, professional actor and Alan Reid, Recreation Division Manager of the Auckland Access programme are Des & Les and have been performing their very visual, energetic and highly original style of comedy since 1984.
Bruce has been involved with modern dancing, and spent time with Limbs Dance Company in Auckland. He has also worked with a number of theatre companies including The Front Lawn, Inside-Out, Auckland Theatre Company and of course the Mercury and Watershed Theatres – both on and off the stage. He has appeared in productions at the Adelaide Festival, Sydney Festival and the New Zealand International Festival as well as appearing in various television programmes and local films.
Alan is qualified as a professional (NZLTPCA) tennis coach, and has been involved with voice and photographic work.
