Tina Cross
A New Zealand icon who conquers every genre she tackles. Yes she unashamedly admits to being around forever and to all who marvel at her youthful looks, she recommends, fresh juicing, flaxseed oil and body pump and combat.
New Zealander’s remember Tina as a TV darling and winner of the Pacific Song Contest, Top Female Vocalist, an Australian MO’ and a Best Theatrical Performers award, to name but a few. In the early 1980’s Tina moved to Australia establishing herself as a regular performer on several TV shows and subsequently recorded her own TV special for BBC television. Tina recorded three solo albums between 1980 and 1995 and as lead singer of Australian chart topping band Koo De Tah recorded her first techno-pop CD.
Tina has performed along side Sammy Davis Jnr, Tom Jones and even the original Village People, amongst others. She is one of New Zealand’s top jingle singers, is a favourite soloist with New Zealand’s elite orchestras and is one of our premium artists in the Coca-Cola Christmas In The Park series.
Tina’s latest incarnation as a star of musical theatre has seen her triumph as Columbia in The Rocky Horror Show, Grizabella in Cats and the Australian production of Sisterella. In this production, the Melbourne Age summed it up “The show is driven by New Zealander Tina Cross who is nothing short of magnificent. Every moment she is on stage is mesmerising”.
Tina went on to play her dream role, the infamous Roxie Hart, in the 2001 New Zealand tour of Chicago – undoubtedly a career highlight. 2003 saw Tina performing the hits she sang as a Disco Queen of the 70’s in the Stetsons touring production of Boogie Nights.
In 2004 Tina starred as Beth in the musical drama production of Once Were Warriors, directed by Jim Moriarty. In early 2008 Tina took to the dance floor to compete in the fourth series of 'Dancing with the Stars'.
