He has an equal wealth of experience in radio, culminating in Top of the Morning, New Zealand’s highest-rating programme, which he presented from 1994 to 1999.

He has been a columnist for the Dominion Sunday Times, Metro, and the NZ Listener, and is the author of several books including The Public Eye, Intemperate Outbursts, Brian’s Week and Helen – Portrait of a Prime Minister and his new memoir, Daddy was a German Spy and other Scandals.

Brian Edwards began running media training courses in the early 1970s. He and Judy Callingham have been advisors to many hundred prominent New Zealanders. They include the chief executives of many of New Zealand's largest companies, the country’s most senior public servants and four Prime Ministers, including the Rt. Hon. Helen Clark.

Dr Edwards holds an honours B.A. from the Queen’s University of Belfast and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh. He lectured at Canterbury University and was Head of Television for the Bachelor of Communication Studies degree at the Auckland Institute of Technology.

He was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM) in 1999 for services to broadcasting and journalism.
